🇪🇸 Spain | 📅 21 days in Mar 2024 | 🌷 Spring

Here are 5 things we wished we knew before going to Spain! We went from March to April 2024 (Spring), and hit up Barcelona, Menorca, Mallorca, Valencia, Madrid, Granda and Seville in 21 days.

For reference, we're nature-loving, value-seeking 20-something year olds from Australia who think with their stomachs. Hopefully this helps make your next trip to Spain smoother and more enjoyable!

🧠 The 5 things

  1. Spain has high levels of pollen nearly all year round. So if you have allergies like Calvin, bring a bucket load of antihistamines. (He was out for 2/3 weeks)

  2. Spaniards eat churros and hot chocolate for breakfast! They’re much healthier than back home too, so indulge in the crispy chocolatey goodness guilt free!

  3. Siesta is a serious affair. Half the shops close for 2-3 hours from 2pm. So plan accordingly or do as the Spanish do and have your own siesta!

  4. This means dinner usually starts later too (8pm onwards). So if you want to eat with the locals, prepare for a late night. It's not uncommon to drink after dinners until the early morning, sometimes 3am.

  5. Sangrias aren’t the only drink Spain is famous for. Tinto de verano is a lighter, more refreshing version and 5x better in my opinion, and I found one of my favourite beers here - Estrella De Glacier!
