After travelling with and testing a dozen debit cards over the years, we've put together a list of our top 3 travel debit cards:

Our ride or die card. We carry one ING Everyday card each, and rely on this daily as our means of getting cash from ATMs, and making payments whilst overseas.


Benefits:

  • No international transaction fees so long as you meet their requirements of depositing $1000 from an external account, and make 5 transactions per month.

  • Rebate for the first 5 ATM withdrawal fees

  • Up to 5.50% p.a. interest rate on their savings account when you meet their requirements (learn more)

Our back up card. We carry one Ubank Spend card each, and have this as a backup incase our ING card gets blocked, lost, or stolen.

Our back up card. We carry one Wise Travel Money card between us, and have this as a backup incase our ING and Ubank card gets blocked, lost, or stolen.


Benefits:

  • 2 free ATM withdrawals up to $350 AUD each month. Afterwards, it is $1.5 AUD per withdrawal, and a 1.75% fee on any amount withdrawn after $350 AUD.

  • It's a prepaid card so you load the card with your desired currency at mid-market rate before use
